About the TSHL Foundation

The mission of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature Foundation is to provide the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature (TSHL) with the resources to improve the knowledge and skills of its membership in formulating their public policy recommendations.

The Texas Silver-Haired Legislature Foundation (TSHLF) was established in 1985 as a non-profit 501(c)3 to raise funds to support TSHL. Other resources come from grants for special projects and individual members who finance their travel and other expenses. Both TSHLF and TSHL are all-volunteer groups with no paid staff or office. As member-driven organizations, TSHLF and TSHL are not supported by state funds.

As a Friend of the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature (TSHL), you can help TSHL in its efforts to:

Encourage older Texans to participate more actively in public affairs, in the interest of good government for all Texans.

Encourage more non-partisan discussion and debate on aging issues.

Provide older Texans with avenues to serve as senior resources in both public and private sectors, and to interact with other citizen groups, organizations, and agencies.

Adopt selected issues related to aging Texans as legislative priorities and recommend to the Texas Legislature for consideration.

The Foundation actively solicits tax-deductible gifts, grants, and donations that will support the operational expenses of the TSHL for their training and orientation sessions, and research and policy recommendation activities.
